In my new position, I am finding myself performing quite a lot of analysis.  I am mining data and studying margins, sales trends, and customer profitability.  I am pulling custom sales reports on demand for our GM and Sales Reps.  I am also tracking customer and end-customer sales, monthly, for Corporate and for Accounting.  My Excel training is really coming in handy!  I enjoy figuring out the answer to questions and problems.  It is really satisfying to quickly and efficiently perform these duties and supply the answers to my colleagues and customers.

I also relied heavily on Excel for the 2018 industrial coatings price increase.  I manipulated all the price lists for the appropriate increases and sent the lists to the coaters.  Then I downloaded each customer's list from the ERP system, carefully made the price changes, saved the values, and uploaded them back into the ERP system without incident or error.  In the past, these kind of changes were made by hand, one at a time, in the ERP system.  But DCP is growing and is no longer a small enough company for that kind of time-consuming activity.  Also, making changes by hand introduces more opportunity for keystroke errors.  It took me a solid week, but the price changes were made in the ERP system before the increase went into effect.

This position is shaping up to be so much more than just pricing, which I find to be both challenging and satisfying.  Never a dull moment!  I look forward to learning new skills and taking on new tasks as needed.  Once DCP is officially and completely Axalta, who knows what new duties I might need to handle?

This company is chock-full of great people.  Interesting, hard-working, intelligent, caring, and professional co-workers make the workday much more enjoyable.  We are manufacturing and selling quality products to the industry.  It's good to be a part of it.
