Moving to a new city, I have been excited to get involved, meet people, and be active outside of work. To that end, I have now joined a church choir (in addition to the HSV Master Chorale that I have been singing with for several months), applied for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Alabama, been on TV (twice!) for volunteering for aid to Puerto Rico, and I'm busier than ever at work.
Tuesday nights I have HSV Master Chorale rehearsal, Wednesday nights I have church choir rehearsal, Thursday nights I have knitting group, Saturday mornings I have knitting group, and Sundays I sing in church. I power-walk the dog every evening. And I'm traveling a bunch on the weekends. Recently had a super-fun Cousin's Weekend in Nashville! All of it leaves less "down-time" but I am enjoying myself!
Staying positive, even though there are family issues going on back in Ohio that are on my mind constantly. All I can do is pray and be supportive. I am also trying to get my nephew an interview with Axalta, as he is graduating from OSU in a few months.
I have another nephew who is considering attending college in Florida. My hope is that his basketball team will play other teams that are close to Huntsville, and I will be able to see some of his games. Maybe even host the Ohio family hoping to do the same.
I recently had a mishap at work that, when everything was flushed out, ending up making the company more money than if it hadn't happened. I'm feeling really fortunate for the way this turned out. I recognize that I am blessed, and I am grateful. I am trying to make my mark here; I feel that this is the pivotal position in my career to make a big difference for my employer and myself. So, hard work continues!
