I sold my house in Ohio after a single Open House!  The housing market in Columbus, Ohio is crazy right now, and Clintonville is an especially hot spot!!  It's an older house, so there were several remedies that the home inspector recommended.  Thank goodness, I was able to get some quotes and offer the buyers cash for the remedies.  I've just been so busy, working in Huntsville during the week and traveling back to Ohio on the weekends to try to prepare for my move.  Then the FHA appraiser took a look at the place.  This time, everything had to be fixed immediately so the appraiser could make sure they were done correctly before they would approve the buyer's loan.  It was a scramble to get it finished, for sure!!  My real estate team (shout out to Kemp Real Estate Group!) helped me to get it done on time.  Even so, the closing was pushed forward 5 days.  Still, it didn't interfere with my moving date or my closing in Alabama.  Whew!!

I found a really beautiful condo (I have decided that yard work is not my thing!) in Huntsville and was so excited to close on it May 19, 2017.  Because my Ohio closing was May 15, that left me with a housing gap but I decided to try Airbnb for the first time.  It worked out really well, especially since I found a place that had a private bathroom for guests and they also allowed me to bring Domino.  I took possession on May 19 of my new place but the movers are not delivering my furniture and boxes until May 23!  Luckily, my Alabama realtor loaned me an air mattress.  Domino has his dog bed.  I had the Wi-Fi hooked up on the 20th so that at least I can watch a little TV on my iPad.  I can't wait to get my stuff moved into my new place.

I donated, purged, and pitched a lot of stuff prior to this move!  So, I need to purchase a dryer (my old dryer was gas and this condo does not have a gas hookup in the laundry room), and a kitchen table (that old set was used when I bought it in 1989!!!)  I also need a few more pieces of patio furniture for this nice patio I have now.  I'm not sure if my bar is going to fit in this space, but we'll see once it gets here.  I might have to sell it.  I'm a little worried about storage now that I don't have a basement.  Also, no place to hide when there is a tornado.  I wonder if the clubhouse has a shelter.  Oh, that's right, there is a nice clubhouse with a fitness room and a pool.  Also, a stocked lake with a walking path (Domino and I checked it out the first day!)

I have started church-shopping.  There are a lot of Methodist churches in the area; today I attended the traditional service at Huntsville First United Methodist Church in downtown Huntsville.  It was lovely, I met some nice people, and their choir sounded great.  They had a brass ensemble called the Heavenly Honkers.  Cute (a little too cute) but they placed some lovely pieces and only had a few sour notes!  Then I went for lunch at a nice place just a block or two away; Humphrey's.  They had live blues for brunch on Sunday afternoon!!  Also, 99-cent mimosas.  I am going to take my time and shop around for the right church, and try not to let the brunch options sway my choice.  HA HA

Several other restaurants I like in the area:  Old Black Bear in historic downtown Madison (they brew their own beer and the menu is great!), Cork & Crust on County Line Rd., O'Connor's Seafood & Steak, Lucia's Mexican Cantina in downtown Athens AL.  I still have to investigate the Farmer's Market but for right now, I have no cookware and no utensils, so I didn't want to bring in fresh food that would go bad before I had a chance to cook it.

I need to find a doggy daycare that will take Domino on moving day!  Then a vet, doctor, hair salon, nail salon, handyman, etc.  Oh, and I had an unpleasant encounter that reminds me that I need to find a bug guy.  Welcome to the South!!   :-D
