Is it folly to seek out a profession that mirrors your passion in life? I think that depends on your interests, your skills, and your situation. For example, if your passion is to invest in the stock market (and you are good at it), then you are lucky - your passion is also an activity that can support you quite comfortably. However, if your passion is music (as mine is), it is much more challenging to be able to support yourself as a singer. There are literally thousands of talented singers in a concentrated area, so the competition is stiff and most gigs don't pay the mortgage. I feel blessed to be not only talented as singer, but also pretty sharp in the science, math, and business arenas. With these skills, I can seek employment that ensures that I can support myself and be independent, while also fulfilling my passion for singing in my free time. It truly is the best of both worlds.
